Covid regulations
Before arriving
A negative PCR Covid-19 test is required 3 days before attending camp. We will have access to provincially funded testing options before the beginning of summer, however are waiting on details from the Ontario Government to be released. What we can tell you right now is that the cost of these tests will be covered! Camp will release more details on this as they become available.
The day families arrive on site, they must bring a printed out completed Covid screening questionnaire that will be sent to them following registration. All members must screen negatively and provide proof of a negative covid PCR test before they will be allowed to enter the site and begin enjoying the fun!
At camp
Each day, families will be provided with a similar screening tool that they will be expected to fill out before joining in on the day's activities. If they screen positive then an assessment will be completed and a final decision will be made whether or not the family will be asked to leave the site. Camp Misquah will not be completing any Covid tests on site this summer for participants. If a family is asked to leave they will be refunded the remainder of the time they had left on site.
Please note that non-adherence to any of Camp Misquah’s Covid Guidelines may result in families being asked to leave the site. Examples of this may include refusing to follow masking or social distancing guidelines despite reminders from staff members.
Programming
Various programs will be available to all participants on site this summer. Some of these include Archery, swimming, boating, campfires, dance parties, sports, and crafts! We are so excited to be sharing these with you!
BEACHFRONT
Misquah has a lovely waterfront with a swimming area and access to our fleet of paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks. We will have certified Lifeguards on site. There is no boat ramp at Misquah.
Health Supports
We will have health staff on site for basic first aid and emergency help along to do Covid checks. There will be limited ‘clinic’ hours and campers and their families will be responsible for their own medications.
Pet Policy
Unfortunately we will be asking you to leave your furry friends at home while you attend camp. We already have one happy camp dog named Kona that will be happy to greet you and play fetch all day long if you are missing your four legged friends at home.
Facilities
All cabins on site have outlets and access to power. The bed styles are bunk beds and are all single bed mattresses. We do not provide bedding so don’t forget to pack yourself some sheets, blankets and a sleeping bag! Our restroom facilities are all shared with a new fully accessible shower house and various restrooms located throughout the site. Our pathways are not paved so please ensure you are able to walk on some uneven group and terrain as this will be required to get around our site!
Another thing to note is that we have very limited WIFI access at Camp Misquah. If you need extended or reliable coverage we suggest using cellular data plans.
Limited access to Laundry facilities is available during camp however we encourage all families to pack enough clean clothes to last them the duration of time they are at camp.
What we provide
Our staff will be happy to provide you and your families with structured and casual day time programming in various areas. Some of these will include a lifeguard supervised swimming and boating area, various crafts led by our staff members and tons of fun evening programs put on by our program team!
Our Kitchen will also be providing three family style nutritious meals a day during your stay as well as access to a tea and coffee station throughout the days. We will serve these in your Covid cluster, mostly outside and with respect for Covid safety. We do our best to accommodate all allergies and dietary restrictions however if there are some things we cannot help you with (such as specific favorite foods) then we may ask you to bring this with you if you wish to enjoy it while on site. We are happy to accomodate diets including, but not limited to vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, lactose/ dairy free, etc
What we don’t provide
Camp Misquah staff will not be left responsible for the sole supervision of any camper. We have a small staff team working and are not able to accommodate this. This means that family members will be responsible for the supervision of their own camper and may decide which activities they should accompany them to. Please note that all waterfront activities must be supervised by a family member as well as some activities such as hikes down the camp road.
Camp Misquah staff members will also not be able to provide any personal care needs for campers this year. This will mean that it is the responsibility of the family to facilitate things such as toileting and showering.
Camp Misquah will also not be responsible for keeping your personal cabins clean during your stay. If cleaning supplies are required for spills or other reasons within the cabin we will be happy to provide you with necessary supplies to clean it up. Things like brooms, dustpans and garbage cans will be made available in all cabins for guest use. We will however be performing rigorous cleaning routines on all common areas at camp such as the dining hall, craft hut, program equipment, all bathrooms and the shower house.
